The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians has purchased a stake in a major retail, housing and commercial project in Acme, Michigan. The Band will invest in 160 acres out of the 180-acre project, with anchor retailer Meijer owning the other 20.
The site of the project dubbed the Grand Traverse Town Center is located across the road from the tribe’s Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, a 900-acre property, and about three miles west of the band’s Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel.
The Grand Traverse Band is the fifth group to invest in the town center, also referred to as The Village at Grand Traverse, said Jay Zollinger, Acme Township Supervisor to 9&10 News.
